  Ula Weber

As well as singing with the renowned choir Ex Cathedra, Ula also works for the organisation as a lead vocal tutor; and co-created Singing Playgrounds, Ex Cathedra education’s internationally acclaimed and award-winning project. A trained choral conductor, Ula currently conducts CBSO SO Vocal (a 200-strong community choir run by the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra), CBSO Young Voices and the Birmingham City Council Choir(as featured in the 2013 BBC2 programme ‘The Choir’, with Gareth Malone). She is the founder and Musical Director of Echo Doliny (a national Polish folk choir) and, most recently, the National Teachers’ Choir. As Head of Events for the National Choral Organisation, Sing for Pleasure (SfP), Ula organises conducting and singing courses across the UK and abroad. She regularly tutors on SfP conductor training courses and is Course Director for their annual Summer School. Ula guest conducts at national and international events and is regularly invited to lead singing, training, and corporate workshops for organisations including ABCD, BBC, G4S, Glyndebourne, NAME, NYCOS, Music Mark, Sing Up and numerous Music Hubs across the UK.

   Stuart Overington

Stuart Overington is an accomplished conductor, vocal animator and composer working between Manchester and London, UK. Having trained as a singer and conductor at the Royal Northern College of Music he is known for his engaging, informative and inclusive style and works with a wide and diverse range of ensembles. Stuart has established and directed a number of junior, youth and community choirs across the country. He is currently the director of choirs at the Royal Northern College of Music, the Hallé Orchestra’s Youth Choirs director and Chethams School of Music Chamber choir as well as regularly running community choir workshops and events across the country. Stuart’s diversity as a conductor is shown in his output Previous projects have included concerts with John Rutter, Stephen Bell, Sir Mark Elder, David Hill and Andrew Greenwood as well many performances for TV and Radio with bands such as Snow Patrol, C Duncan & Elbow. Forthcoming project include St Matthew Passion with Jonathan Peter Kenny & English Touring Opera, a number of concerts with RNCM Chamber choir and Edvard Grieg Kor across UK and Norway and numerous concerts with the Hallé Orchestra including Debussy’s Nocturnes with Sir Mark Elder.

  Alan Boxer (ChoirWorx musical coordinator)

Alan has directed choral and orchestral groups since he was in his teens. After training at the Royal College of Music he has followed a joint career in music and as a headteacher. He now directs several choirs, performs as a pianist, bassoonist, singer and conductor, and writes songs and musicals. He works with professional groups, community choirs and with children’s groups, as well as teaching privately at home in Mid Devon.
